Emergi, a Dutch startup specializing in renewable energy technology, plans to launch its first electric vehicle, "Kekeh," in the Liberian auto market. Emergi is seeking financing to move from prototype to production. The startup recently launched a fundraising campaign that raised €10,000.
Carbon-neutral urban mobility solutions may soon be available in Liberia. For example, "Kekeh" is a three-wheeled vehicle focused on renewable energy.
Currently, in West Africa, the Emergi startup is facing problems. There are no funds to move from the prototype stage to the electric Kekeh production stage. Therefore, Emergi recently launched a fundraiser for Liberians. The campaign, which will end on December 4, 2020, could help raise funds for the mass production of electric vehicles for urban transport in the face of severe fuel shortages in the capital, Monrovia, and other states. “For € 3,500 (over $ 746,000 Liberia), we can bring additional Kekeh electric and solar charging stations to the market,” explained Emergi. Initially, the startup company hoped to collect 10,000 euros.
Driver Protection
According to Emergi, the upcoming electric Kekeh will feature innovative technologies to increase driver income and safety, including mobile payments, security cameras in the car, GPS support, and solar power charging stations. Furthermore, Emergi assures that projects will be inclusive, creating job opportunities for women and mechanics, renewable energy specialists, and IT specialists".
